A lecturer at the Department of Languages and Linguistics of the Osun State University, Ikire Campus, Dr. Wale Ojoniyi, is currently in trouble following the release of a video tape of his alleged sex escapade with a 400 level English student of the institution, Mercy Ikwue.

The student, who released the over 30-minute video clip, recorded it in a hotel room.

Although some claimed the lecturer raped the student, real sexual intercourse was not captured in the video.

There was also no attempt by the man in the video to coerce the student to cooperate with him.

In a petition written to The Punch , some students of the university claimed that Ojoniyi was instrumental to the suspension of the female student, after she was allegedly caught for examination malpractices.

On her return to the university after the one academic session rustication, the petition claimed the lecturer mounted pressure on the student for an amorous affair but the lady resisted him.

It was further learnt that the lady confided in some persons, who advised her to set a trap for Ojoniyi by agreeing to his love advances.
She eventually went to the agreed hotel room and met him.

In the video, which was also made available to our correspondent, the female student set up a laptop directly opposite the bed and pretended to be watching the ‘Things Fall Apart’ film on it but she was recording the sexual activity.

Although there was no act of sexual intercourse captured in the video, the man in the video was seen stark naked and caressing the student occasionally.

In the video, Ikwue was seen throwing her blue top on the bed from an angle she knew the camera could not cover. She also ensured that the camera lense did not capture her when she removed her trousers.

She wore her top throughout the 34-minute duration of the show and used the bedsheet as a wrapper.

The man came to the bed naked oblivious of the trap set for him and dangled his manhood throughout the show.

The audio quality of the video clip was poor but some of the conversations can still be heard.

The female student said at one point, “Give me my transport. I am not asking for any other money, just give me my transport fare.

“Why is your thing (private part) dropping like this, haven’t you done it in recent time.

“Before I went on suspension, why didn’t you plead on my behalf? You knew about it joo.”

Ojoniyi when asked by our correspondent if he was aware of the video said he had heard of it.
He said, “I also heard of the video. It is being investigated.”

Asked if he believed that the video was a handiwork of those who might want to bring him down, he said, “ People can do anything, but I cannot be brought down.”

Body of lecturer of College of Education Oju beaten to death by his wife recovered from River Katsina-Ala

The decomposing body of Godwin Abuul, the lecturer in the Theatre Arts Department of the College of Education, Oju, Benue State, who was allegedly murdered by his wife, name withheld, in connivance with her siblings over alleged extra-marital affairs, has been recovered from River Katsina-Ala by police.

Thepolytescrib News, had exclusively reported that Abuul, who went missing about two weeks ago in Gboko after returning from Oju, where he lectured at the state-owned institution, was killed and dumped in River Katsina-Ala.

In the course of investigations, police in Gboko arrested a young man with the cloth the lecturer wore the last day he was seen and on interrogation, the suspect confessed that the deceased was allegedly killed by his wife in connivance with her siblings, who also sold his car and shared the proceeds.

The mother of two was immediately arrested alongside her siblings and others mentioned in the saga.

The matter had been transferred to the Command Headquarters in Makurdi for further investigation.

A family source, who spoke yesterday on condition of anonymity, told reporters in Makurdi that the decomposed body of the former Head of Theatre Arts Department, COE, Oju, was found stuck to the trunk of a small tree in River Katsina-Ala.

Wife beats lecturer husband to death over extra marital affairs

A lecturer in the Theatre Arts Department of the College of Education Oju in Benue state, Godwin Abuul, has been allegedly murdered by his wife, name withheld, in connivance with her siblings over alleged extra marital affairs.

Saturday Vanguard gathered that Abuul who went missing about two weeks ago in Gboko was killed by his murderers who also dumped his remains in River Katsina/Ala.

According to a family source who craved anonymity, the deceased two weeks ago went missing in Gboko after returning from Oju where he lectured at the state owned College of Education. Narrating the story he said, “Goddy used to lecture at the College of Education in Oju.

He travels weekly from here in Gboko to Oju to lecture after which he returns to Gboko to spend his weekend with his wife and two children.

“Unfortunately, two weeks ago he returned from Oju and said he was traveling to Katsina/Ala on a private visit, that was the last we heard of him.

“His disappearance was reported to the Police who since then have been combing the entire state in search of his whereabouts.

“Luckily, just two days ago, the cloth he wore the last day anybody saw him was found with a young man who was immediately arrested by the Police in Gboko.

“Upon interrogation the young man confessed to the Police how the missing lecturer was allegedly killed by his wife in connivance with her siblings.

“His confession triggered the arrest of several persons including the wife of the deceased and mother of his two children and all those mentioned in the saga, by the Police in Gboko, though the matter has been transferred to the Command Headquarters in Makurdi for further investigations.”

Continuing, the source said, “already his wife has confessed all she knew about the matter to the Police.

We learned that she alleged that her brothers beat her husband up because he was involved in extra marital affairs, but not with the intention to kill him.

“After killing him, they allegedly dumped his body in River Katsina/Ala and also went ahead to sell his Honda car to an innocent buyer for the sum of N650,000 and of that sum, the wife of the murdered lecturer was given the sum of N400, 000 as her share of the proceed.”

“As I speak with you, the Police and local divers are still combing River Katsina/Ala to locate the remains of the Goddy (the deceased) but we very much doubt if his remains would be seen because the fishes must have feasted on it.”

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Assistant Superintendent, ASP, Moses Yamu who confirmed the incident said he was yet to get full details of the matter.

Yamu said, “yes I know of the matter but I’m yet to get the full details of the matter from the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, because the suspects are yet to arrive Makurdi.

At this moment I cannot confirm that the wife of the deceased was behind his murder until the details are made available to me.”

UNIBEN lecturers block student’s graduation for 3 years, say ‘too busy’ to compile records

A University of Benin student has been denied graduation for three years despite meeting all academic requirements. His lecturers and examination officials said they were too busy to compile his records.

Temidayo Awoyemi, 26, had eagerly hoped to fulfill his dreams after graduation from the school’s department of chemistry. He has spent three years since completing his studies, without graduation.

Officials in his department and faculty said they had had no time to process his records in the last two years.

The faculty checker, Professor Anthony Imiavan, in charge of scrutinizing students’ records, confirmed to PREMIUM TIMES that the student had no case to keep him from graduating.

A spokesperson for the school told this newspaper the case was “strange”, and assured it would be resolved quickly.

Despite that assurance, the school has yet to act on the matter more than a month after long wait Like many other students of the school, Temidayo’s problem began in his final year when his department said his West African Senior Secondary School Certificate was not in its records. At least five other students in his class had the same problem.

After losing the 2012/13 school session to a six-month strike by Academic Staff Union of Universities, Temidayo hoped he would be quickly let go the next session once he provided a copy of the missing certificate.

He submitted the certificate to the chemistry department and began to wait for clearance since 2013/2014 session. Two years after, he is still waiting for the school to process his result for graduation.

The process of clearing him requires the approval of his course adviser, Wayne Omagamre; faculty checker, Professor Anthony Imiavan; the Head of Department, Professor James Okuo; and Dean, Professor Sunday Omosigho.

The officials consistently said they had been too busy to attend to the case, the student told PREMIUM TIMES.
